At the SPS/IPC/Drives 2011 Eaton Lets the Numbers Speak For Themselves.
Bonn . . . As one of the leading manufacturers of components and systems for electrical engineering and automation, Eaton is presenting impressive solutions as well as innovative components at the SPS/IPC/Drives 2011 in Nuremberg. At its 490 sq m fair stand in Hall 9/ Stand 371, Eaton Industries is letting the numbers speak for themselves. When it comes to the performance, reliability and efficiency of an automation solution, it's sometimes numbers that say more than words. The recipe for success that stands behind every successful number is just as interesting. For example, Lean Automation - Eaton's substantial answer to increasing costs and the need for greater efficiency in industry: this reduces unnecessary processes and components, optimizes time and cost outlay. Irrespective of the application field in which innovative energy distribution and power supply are required. At Eaton's fair stand in Nuremberg, visitors can expect a number of solutions, new ideas and products for automation and efficient power management.
Up to 4,000 mm diameters moved easily and efficiently automated - thanks to Lean Connectivity: Eaton technologies significantly simplify work on the new mts tunneling machines. A successful example of Lean Connectivity: The "lean" connection technology with SmartWire-DT enables the control wiring to be completely dispensed with. Short testing and commissioning reducing the work load onsite. The use of SmartWire-DT also provides system-integrated manipulation protection and thus ensures the security of the entire installation during operation.
Temperatures below 20°C in gravel plants - no problem with SmartWire-DT: The problems involved in starting iced up elevating conveyors in the morning in winter are all too common: The stiffness of the empty conveyor belts causes the motor currents to increase up to their operating limit. When material is then added, the drive enters the overload range and the motor protection shuts down the elevating conveyor. Not so at the Lorüns crusher and screening plant (BSL): The PKE electronic motor-protective circuit-breakers ensure controlled operation close to the maximum output limit since the actual current values are made constantly available. The data transfer to the controller is implemented with SmartWire-DT, which both prevents the excess use of power during warm starting as well as any unnecessary downtimes due to overload tripping.
Conveying thousands of suitcases and saving 20 percent energy - with Rapid Link 4.0: Today state-of-the-art conveying systems are being installed in airports and distribution centers as modular and decentralized systems. Baggage handling system suppliers and airport operators have discovered Eaton's Rapid Link decentralized drive system for themselves. After all, this enables energy savings of more than 20 percent with baggage handling systems.
Eaton energy measuring and communication modules for compact circuit-breakers and switch-disconnectors ensure transparent energy consumption. For greater transparency in the energy consumption of buildings or production plants, Eaton offers a new range of MCx energy measuring and communication modules for compact circuit-breakers and switch-disconnectors up to 630A. MCx modules provide all the relevant measuring data required: This includes phase and N conductor currents, rms voltages, active, reactive and apparent power, as well as power factor (cos phi). In this way, a detailed power consumption analysis can be drawn up. If "energy leaks" are identified, users can take effective energy saving measures.
New products with the innovative SmartWire-DT wiring and communication system: easy80x-SW-DT, new SW-DT Ethernet modules, PKE65: Eaton is presenting another SmartWire-DT gateway at the fair. The first Ethernet-based gateway (Ethernet IP / Modbus TCP) that offers connection to the SmartWire-DT system and adds to gateways for Profibus and CANopen. The new Ethernet-based SmartWire-DT gateway comes with an integrated 10/100 Mbit switch and thus simplifies the creation of linear structures. The additional diagnostics interface simplifies commissioning and helps users with any troubleshooting. Eaton has further developed its powerful SWD-Assist planning and commissioning software for configuring the SmartWire-DT network.
At the same time, Eaton is showing the direct integration of SmartWire-DT in the easy800 world at the SPS/IPC/Drives fair. Two variants will be presented, with which users can optimally implement frequently occurring small controller applications without having to install a gateway. The SWD-Assist was also fully integrated in easySoft. Besides the planning functions, a configuration level was also implemented which allows the connection between logic I/Os and the SmartWire-DT slaves. Eaton placed particular importance on simplicity, for which, of course, easySoft is renowned.
With the compact and modular PKE 65 for motor currents up to 65A, Eaton is launching another motor-protective circuit-breaker with electronic wide-range overload protection and rounding off the top end of its extensive range. Modular standard components at Eaton for creating motor starters are perfectly matched and easy to combine. Users can make use of accessories from the Eaton PKZ system. In conjunction with SmartWire-DT, motor-protective circuit-breakers and motor starter combinations with PKE provide the ideal possibility for integration in the automation world. All the relevant data is transferred via SmartWire-DT directly to the controller and is made available throughout the entire plant for condition monitoring or for remote maintenance tasks.
