New Eaton XC202 High Performance PLC with Variable IP Addresses
Bonn . . . As one of the leading manufacturers of components and systems for electrical engineering and automation, Eaton's Moeller is rounding off the upper end of its XC controller series with the new XC-CPU202-EC4M-XV. The XC202 is designed as a high performance PLC: A high-speed RSC processor (532 MHz) and a larger memory (4 MB) provide considerably greater resources for communication tasks. Compared to an XC-CPU201, the XC-CPU202 thus offers around a six to eight times faster processing speed.
The high performance controller is now available and features an integrated Ethernet interface for programming access and data exchange in the network. The special feature of the new controller is the fact that users can access it via different IP addresses. For example, one can be defined as a programming port whilst another is provided solely as a data interface. A special function allows both the IP addresses and the subnet addresses of the controller to be defined individually. This enables the controller to be integrated simply in an existing corporate network.
The XC202 fits seamlessly into Eaton's existing XC range. Users can thus utilize all the input/output modules, communication modules and accessories available. Either MMC/SD memory cards or USB sticks can be used as the memory medium for data. Any operating system update required for the controller can be carried out via the Ethernet interface as well as via these memory media.
Besides the Ethernet and combined CAN/easyNet interface, the XC202 also features a serial interface. This is useful for programming but also a transparent interface for connecting barcode readers, printers or other devices. The interface can be programmed easily by means of a browser command for the required mode.
The controller also comes with a web server which enables it to be accessed via the Internet. Users can call up all visualization pages created with the CoDeSys programming software easily by means of a web browser. This type of web visualization is ideal for remote maintenance tasks.
As well as the Ethernet interface (with a display of the Link/communication status) and the CANopen/easyNet interface (with a switchable bus terminating resistor), a 29-bit CAN identifier and a USB interface (2.0 Host), the high performance PLC comes with eight digital inputs and six digital outputs on board.
