CAD Data, Planning Safety and Process Optimization at the Click of a Mouse
Eaton's Moeller business is now providing CAD data via the Internet and thus meeting the wish of many customers for an optimized planning process. CAD stands for 'computer aided design' and involves the use of a computer in the planning and design process. CAD data is divided into two different categories: eCAD data for electrical design and mCAD data for mechanical design. Eaton Moeller is using the EPLAN Electric P8 project engineering system in addition to the previous offer of electrical design data. EPLAN is the leading planning program throughout Europe and is used by a large number of Eaton Moeller customers. For this a total of over 7000 EPLAN symbols and product macros were created, that can be called via the Internet at any time. Eaton Moeller is creating mechanical design data in stages for its entire range by 2011. The MultiCAD format, giving the possibility of generating three different CD formats, is a key benefit. Users obtain the 3D data from a web portal where a choice of 80 different formats ensure that the right one can be selected - anywhere and anytime. The CAD data provided enables Eaton Moeller to already support its customers in the planning phase - with switching cabinets, systems or machines. This reduces processing times, minimizes errors and thus reduces costs. Whether for planning, design, production or purchasing, Eaton Moeller's device data enables customers to optimize their entire process chains - at the click of a mouse. In brief: EPLAN P8 data for over 7000 Eaton Moeller products is currently available - accessible via the EPLAN DataPortal and www.moeller.net/CAD. 3D models of around 1200 products are available via www.moeller.net/CAD. The entire Eaton Moeller range will be available by 2011.
