New M-MAX Frequency Inverter Series:
Single-Phase and Three-Phase Devices for the World Market.

Moeller's new M-MAX series of frequency inverters offers seven single-phase and nine three-phase variants. They stand out on account of their highly compact design, very good torque response and simple handling. M-MAX frequency inverters will be available from Q1/2009 and are suitable for use with pumps, fans, conveyor belts, transport drives and machine building - in other words, for a wide range of applications.

Single-phase devices (208…240 V +10/-15 %) are available in the rating range from 0.25 to 2.2 kW, and three-phase devices (380…480 V +10/-15 %) from 0.37 to 5.5 kW. The new M-MAX series is designed for the world market and has CE, UL (USA), cUL (Canada) and cTick (Australia) approvals.

The frequency inverters are mounted on DIN rails or alternatively on mounting plates using screw fixings. The devices are supplied with all the components required for an EMC compliant installation. As well as internal filters for compliance with categories C2 (public network) and C3 (industrial network) in accordance with IEC/EN 61800-3, shield connection options are also provided. The ground connection of the internal filter can be interrupted for using the device in IT networks.

The concept of frequency inverters that can switch between "V/f" and "sensorless vector" modes allows operation in a temperature range from -10 °C to +50 °C with a 1.5 overload. The connected motor is monitored and protected by means of the internal motor protection.

Six digital inputs and two analog inputs, one digital and one analog output, as well as two relay outputs enable the devices to be used in a wide range of applications.

The M-MAX frequency inverters come with a host functions such as PI controller, flying start (switching onto the running motor), configurable response in the event of a fault, RS485 with Modbus protocol as standard etc. Parameterisation and operation are nevertheless kept user-friendly. The menu offers preconfigured parameter sets for frequent applications, a menu for the most important parameters and well-structured submenus to enable simple setting for complex applications.

Users can also assign parameters via the PC as an alternative to the keypad. A module that is plugged onto the M-MAX frequency inverter connects to the PC via the USB interface. The same module can be used to transfer parameters between several frequency inverters in order to duplicate parameter settings. This does not require the frequency inverter to be energized during parameterisation. An M-MAX frequency inverter can be assigned parameters in a few simple steps: Open the packaging ' Plug in the module ' Activate the parameter setting by pressing the key ' Remove the module ' Close the packaging ' and done! The parameterized device is ready for shipment to the user. A very fast and simple process!

The device comes with an operating software (CD).
