BZM circuit breaker product series

Eaton erweitert sein Produktsortiment im Bereich Leistungsschalter.

Vienna … As one of the leading manufacturers of components and systems for electrical engineering and automation, Eaton’s BZM circuit breaker product series closes the Gap in the Product Range.

With the introduction of the new frame size 3, with a switching capacity of 50 kA, the BZM1-3 circuit-breaker series fulfils the requirements of a high quality all-rounder series. The switching capacity goes beyond the requirements of a low-voltage power distribution system for residential and functional buildings, and the series is equally suitable for a wide range industrial applications, such as for protecting the incoming supply on machines.

With the BZM3, Eaton is closing the gap in its existing product range. The new representatives of the BZM1-3 circuit-breaker series with increased switching capacity provide the perfect technical solution for routine power distribution applications in a compact, simple and safe design. The BZM itself protects electrical systems from overload and short-circuit, meeting the requirements of the IEC/EN 60947-2 standard. This circuit-breaker series is also CCC approved for the Chinese market. The BZM series, with a maximum rated voltage of 415V AC, is specially designed for protective applications in volume markets such as in Asia, South America, Africa or Eastern Europe.

Compact design with large switching capacity

The BZM circuit-breaker is now available in three frame sizes. The BZM1 is only 25 mm wide per pole and has a 45 mm front. This makes the 2, 3 and 4 pole version with 16-125 A rated current and a switching capacity of 15, 18 and 25 kA, and the 3 pole version now also with 36 kA into one of the most compact representatives in its rating class. However, the 3-pole BZM2 with a 160-250 A rated current and 25 kA, as well as a 36 kA switching capacity, is quite close behind its smaller brother in terms of compactness. The front dimension of both sizes is 45 millimeters – the BZM2 with 35 mm is only ten millimeters wider per pole than the BZM1. The BZM3 handles a rated current of 200-400 A in a 3-pole version, with a switching capacity of a respectable 50 kA and a maximum rated voltage of 415 VAC. The BZM is typically used in residential and functional buildings and in industry. It demonstrates its adaptability and flexibility in many areas, such as in the protection of the incoming supply on machines, as backup protection for distribution systems or also in the monitoring of air conditioning systems, lifts, pumps or lighting.

Simple mounting thanks to integrated lift terminal

Whilst BZM2 and BZM3 require a cable lug terminal due to the higher rated currents, with the BZM1, Eaton is also offering the proven lift terminal technology. The integrated lift terminal enables the connection to be completed faster and without any tools. A DIN rail adapter plate is another time-saving feature for mounting the BZM1. The BZM is normally installed swiftly and easily with two mounting bolts on the plate provided for it. The installation of the optional accessories is just as simple. To install the shunt releases, undervoltage releases or auxiliary contacts, it is only necessary to open the front flap and clip in the accessory, whilst the terminal cover can also be fitted and sealed easily. Eaton has likewise simplified the setting of the BZ after mounting – it is no longer necessary: Eaton sets the correct tripping characteristics of its BZM circuit-breakers for short-circuit and overload protection already at the factory.

Eaton switchgear are the first choice round the globe for low-voltage power distribution, and the BMZ series for the range 16 to 400 A provides a solution for the sub distribution.
