Type-tested power-combination xEnergy
Type-tested power-combination xEnergy – the switchgear system for infrastructural applications up to 4000 A
Just in time for the Hannover trade fair, Eaton's Moeller Business present three more convincing and "intrinsic values" in their xEnergy switchgear system for up to 4000 amps: The new ACB circuit breaker IZM 20 for the power section, the new load disconnector equipped with fuses for the outgoing section and the innovative plug-in technology for a significant reduction of the time and effort of assembly.
Individual planning of each project is of the essence for panel builders. Their aim is to set up the ideal electrical cabinet for each application. And they want to do it as quickly as possible with just a few touches. A task that's easy and perfect to accomplish with xEnergy. Eaton's Moeller Business offer optimally co-ordinated functional modules for their power distribution system. These modules include protective devices and switchgear as well as the appropriate installation system technology tested according to the IEC/EN 60439-1 standard. So, the new ACB circuit breaker IZM 20 from Eaton's Moeller Business is aboard the feeder section presented at this year's Hannover trade fair, which is actually an XP power section. For the outgoing section, which is a fixed XF section, there are two innovations at the same time waiting to be presented at the Hannover international trade fair: A new plug-in technology and the NH-SD, a load disconnector equipped with fuses. Last but not least, the wide variety of xEnergy applications will also be demonstrated with a 45 cm narrow, free XG system section allowing the SASY 60i busbar system to provide increased efficiency in the electrical cabinet.
Smartly fitted components based on the plug-in technology are an immense advantage – especially in terms of (assembly) time and safety.
Increasing the operational availability and reducing or even completely eliminating any standstills is what it's all about in real life. To meet these requirements, the new plug-in technology for the outgoing sections of the xEnergy switchgear system for up to 4000 amps is an excellent solution. It makes it particularly easy to install circuit breakers, motor starters and individual device compositions for up to 630 amps in the electrical cabinet with just a few touches. Connecting the 3 or 4-pole plug-in modules (up to form 4b) is carried out with proven contact terminals and is extremely fast to do. In addition, any system enhancements or maintenance jobs can be done with the installation in full operation. If it is necessary to change motor performance ratings in a system or to connect new electrical devices, qualified professionals can replace the relevant modules without even interrupting the power supply. So, the permanent operational availability of the system is guaranteed. For the panel builder on the other hand, it is an advantage to have outgoing sections equipped with plug-in technology which are compatible with all standard xEnergy switching sections and to have components which conform to the IEC/EN 60439-1 standard. This makes sure that the panel builder using both the new plug-in technology and the complete xEnergy range can build on safe, reliable and well-functioning technical units.
NH-SD – a myriad of functionalities for a load disconnector equipped with fuses
This new switchgear of the xPole family sets new standards in power distribution when it comes to breaking capacities and applications. The new load disconnector equipped with fuses scores with the following characteristics: It is able to switch quickly and reliably, it is easy and safe to operate and it is extremely flexible for retrofitting new functions.
A kind of modular system allows the user to carry out a maximum of different applications with a minimum of products. The modular setup of the NH-SD in the proven grid-size of 25 mm permits a customized, targeted planning of the switchgear system. In the course of its development, the new NH-SD was designed to be fully compatible with the xEnergy switchgear system. Electrical consumer lines of up to 630 amps will be reliably protected and can be manually disconnected when necessary. The version with the built-in electronic fuse monitoring provides valuable information on any errors in the system - of course in real time and with high accuracy. In addition, it is possible to integrate the NH-SD load disconnector into the load management system by installing current transformers. The result will be permanently available, detailed information on the utilization of each power circuit. Current transformers designed for this purpose can be used for all sizes from 00 to 3 and can be installed without disconnecting the power line. Measuring devices to display the current of a power circuit can be installed in the load disconnectors by means of a wiring installation kit. Generally speaking, the plug-in technology makes it quick and easy to change or add modules in an existing installation - without any standstill time - because plugging in and activating the load of the individual load disconnectors can be done while the system is in full operation.
High breaking and holding capacity in a small-size housing – the new ACB circuit breaker IZM from Eaton's Moeller Business offers it all.
And there is a good reason for us to use an IZM in the feeder section of the XP power section presented at the Hannover trade fair: It was especially designed for applications in low-voltage installations. There are four sizes available to cover a total of ten rated currents from 800 to 6300 amps. An additional, extra-slim size offers the same breaking capacity in even less space. Basically, ACB circuit breakers of the IZM series are available either as a pull-out or as a fixed version with 3 or 4 electricity paths. Operating elements and displays are located at the front of the switch; they are clearly arranged and can be safely reached without even opening the door of the device room. So, all protective elements, the ON/OFF push-button and the lever can be safely activated from outside.
The IZM is individually programmable, so this circuit breaker fits optimally into Moeller's general module-based way of thinking: A comprehensive range of electronic tripping units allowing for a wide variety of functions used for protection, information and communication purposes. So, every customer can mix his personal "cocktail of features" he needs for his individual applications.
