Economical Machine Operation, Visualisation and Control with easyHMI MFD4 - a 5.7 Inch Multi-Function-Display
Following the principles "easy to use", the new 5.7 inch MFD4 multi-function display is designed as one unit: One unit not only provides the PLC, visualisation and operation but also the easySoft-CoDeSys software. This combines the programming system and the visualisation in one, and thus allows direct access to PLC variables. easySoft-CoDeSys thus eliminates the need for additional visualisation software with their often cumbersome variable lists that have to be configured.
The new MFD4 multi-function display from the easyHMI device series features a full graphics 5.7 inch colour STN display with 256 colours, resistive touch as well as a host of communication and network options. MFD4 comes with an Ethernet, CANopen and RS232 interface. The touch-sensitive display (320 x 240 pixels) allows the implementation of intuitive operating concepts. The absolutely flat and seamless display surface is protected to IP65 and can be cleaned easily. The rugged metallic MFD4 stands for its elegant design, a bevelled front frame and small mounting depth. MFD4 is also available for operation in dust-laden environments will soon come with approval to ATEX directive 94/9/EC Group 22 Cat. 3 D. Moreover, the UL/CSA approved device guarantees suitability for worldwide use.
The Windows CE-based MFD4 device comes with an integrated 64 MB SRAM, 2 MB Flash for data / program memory, 6 MB for the visualisation and a battery-backed real-time clock. A complete project, recipe data or the operating system can be transferred to the device via a Multi-Media memory card if required. Only a PC connected to the controller via Ethernet is required to print out alarm lists, recipe or operating data. This also allows FTP access to the standard file system of the MFD4. This therefore also provides a convenient way of exchanging PC recipe or operating data with the MFD4 online.
The MFD4 not only offers operating and visualisation functions. The 133 MHz, 32-bit RISC processor can also handle PLC tasks for smaller automation applications. The CANopen gateway allows motor starters to be controlled directly from the MFD4, for example, via easyConnect SmartWire. The CANopen interface of the MFD4 also enables other CAN nodes such as remote I/Os or frequency inverters to be integrated. easy control relays or easyControls (EC4P) can also be connected simply via the easyNet interface of the MFD4 for remote pre-processing or controlling.
easySoft CoDeSys offers a large number of functions: A visualisation created with it can be called up using any standard web browser from a PC with access to the Internet, so that it can be used to implement remote maintenance tasks. The additional functionality at no extra cost is made possible by the web server integrated in the MFD4. For this PLC data and visualisation objects are loaded in XML format onto the PLC and made available by the web server.
The CoDeSys programming system offers an integrated visualisation editor in which users can already create their visualisation screens in one and the same user interface, within the context of the application development. The language selection function and self-explanatory buttons are ideal for the international use of MFD4. The visualisation tool features a number of functions: UNICODE support, password management (eight levels), online project simulation on the PC, alarm table and history function. Other elements enable powerful and creative visualisation design. The display of a visual element can also be associated with project variables and changed dynamically.
