xEnergy: New Features for NZM Circuit-Breakers

NZM2 Circuit-Breakers: New XRD Remote Operator

The XRD remote operator is now available for standard network or load switching from a distance with the NZM2 circuit-breakers up to 300A. The on switching, off switching and resetting is executed with a permanent or pulse contact using a manual control circuit device or automated control commands. The maximum ON/OFF switch time is 170 ms and is thus suitable for all standard applications for automated or remotely operated energy control. If required, the remote operator can be opened out from the circuit-breaker in order to be able to access the installed auxiliary contact and voltage release. The three-position selector switch AUTO/MANUAL/Interlocked selector switch on the front of the drive allows operating positions to be distinguished clearly. A padlocking feature offers additional protection: The padlocking secures locking in the 0 position. Mounting does not require any additional space since the remote operator has the same mounting width as the circuit-breaker itself. Moeller is offering the new NZM2-XRD remote operator at a considerably lower price than its synchronisable high-speed remote operator NZM2-XR.

NZM1 Circuit-Breakers: New Connector Technology

With applications requiring a high level of availability, components are normally designed as plug connections. This allows devices to be exchanged quickly without any mounting or wiring time required when the system is expanded or in the event of damage. The new plug connection design for the NZM1 circuit-breaker allows a maximum rated current of 125A. The narrow design does not require any additional space for engineering. When the switch is exchanged, an automatic trip ensures current interruption so that the exchange can be completed safely. The plug socket is designed to degree of protection IP20 and thus offers a high level of finger safety, even when the circuit-breaker is removed. If required, one or two padlocks can be used to prevent any undesired plugging in of the circuit-breaker. With the plug socket, Moeller offers the same range of connection designs as for the NZM1 circuit-breaker.

NZM2 Circuit-Breakers: New Residual Current Protection Module for Welding Applications

The circuit-breaker is an essential component for welding controls. Moeller's NZM circuit-breakers have a proven record over several years – particularly in automotive production. Circuit-breakers are normally used as main switches for system and personnel protection. The fast and automatic disconnection of dangerous touch voltages protects persons against electric shock. In the event of a fault, the power supply must be disconnected automatically (in accordance with IEC 364-4-41/ VDE 0100 Part 410) as protection against indirect contact. The residual current module that is separated from mains and auxiliary voltages trips as soon as the definable rated current is exceeded. The summation principle makes the module pulsating d.c. and a.c. fault current sensitive in the range from 0 to 10000 kHz and thus also suitable for 3-pole equipment with power electronics such as converters and frequency inverters. A standards compliant integrated short-time delay ensures protection against nuisance tripping due to momentary, pulsating residual currents and discharge currents which flow, for example, across the suppression filter when switching on frequency inverters.

Circuit-Breakers NZM1-4: New Insulating Surrounds

New insulating surrounds for mounting in the switch cabinet doors are now available for series NZM1-4 circuit-breakers with a toggle lever. The narrowly designed insulating surrounds allow side-by-side mounting without the need to space circuit-breakers with toggle levers. Mounting in a rectangular cutout with a material thickness of 1 to 3 mm can be completed simply and quickly by turning the locking catch. The variable fastening allows a mounting tolerance of up to 4 mm and guarantees protection to IP40. Additional label plates ZFS….-NZM for customised inscription are available for identifying the circuit-breaker clearly from the outside.

NZM3 Circuit-Breaker: New Busbar Adapter

A new busbar adapter is available for NZM3 circuit-breakers with a rated current up to 630A. The special feature of this device is that direction of the incomer or outgoer is optional, which means that the incomer can be mounted from the top or the bottom. The connection between the circuit-breaker and the adapter is implemented with a rapid mounting internal tube contact. The halogen-free busbar adapter can be used for all busbar trunking systems with a 60 mm centre spacing. The adapter is fastened using terminal screw connections onto 12 to 30 mm x 5 to 10 mm Cu rails as well as double and triple T profiles.

NZM2 Circuit-Breakers: Rotary Handle for Machine Control Main Switches for North America

Moeller has developed a new door coupling handle with an additional handle directly on the circuit-breaker in order to address a standard North American requirement of keeping an actuator element always connected with the circuit-breaker regardless of the position of the switch cabinet door. This new innovative construction thus also provides compliance with the latest requirements of NFPA 79 and UL 508A with regard to “deliberate action”. If deliberate action is required, the additional handle must be rotated by approx. 20° in order for it to then be pushed in and further rotated to switch on the circuit-breaker. The essential safety features, such as means of actuation, switch position indication and lockability are therefore provided twice, i.e. on the door coupling handle and also inside the cabinet.
