New 19“ enclosure for SOHO applications
Tower Standard Line rounding off Moeller’s Xpatch program in the small enclosures segment
Moeller’s new 19“ Tower scores above all with its slim line. Thanks to its width of 220 mm only it is easy to mount it on the wall or to discretely hide it under your desk. But what’s actually striking at first sight is its love of order: It instantly leads the existing tangled mess of cables in clearly structured paths.
Schrems, March 2008 – According to the International Telecommunications Union, there are more than a billion people worldwide surfing the World Wide Web on a regular basis. And people browse the web with increasing frequency from home. This is due on the one hand to the increasing number of homes using several PCs, and on the other hand to the so-called “Me Corporations”, i.e. creative one-man companies operating from home. Accordingly, the need for networks continues to increase – even if you only wish to link up the three most common means of communication, which are television, Internet and telephone, to the required extent.
Compact, clever and complete
With its new 19“ Tower Standard Line, Moeller offers an ideal enclosure solution for Small Office and Home Office (SOHO) applications. Despite its modest dimensions – 560 x 220 x 450 mm (H x W x D) – the four units high cabinet can accommodate conventional standardised 19" components. Thanks to its layout in two compartments with removable side walls, these components can be installed quickly and conveniently. Large openings at the top and bottom as well as removable blanks at the rear make it easy to insert the cables. The patch area as such remains highly flexible thanks to adjustable 19“ rails. Moeller delivers the complete enclosure assembled ready to use. The three millimetre thick plexiglass door is equipped with a cylinder lock to protect the wiring from unauthorized manipulations.
Moeller's idea to flush-mount its new 19" enclosure on the wall has proven to be particularly smart. It allows you to utilise the full installation depth of 450 millimetres, with the tower protruding 220 mm only over the wall. Therefore it can be mounted in relatively narrow corridors or even along emergency exit routes. But thanks to its slim line, it will also easily fit under your desk, i.e. right next to a PC or server.
The technical features of the 19“ Tower Standard Line are in compliance with the earthing protection class I and the IP30 degree of protection according to EN60529/IEC529. The enclosure is made of powder-coated sheet steel, it is designed for a load of 25 kg maximum and weighs 10.5 kg. The door opening angle is more than 105°. The hinge with quick-change closure makes it easy to remove the door of the enclosure if this is necessary or to fix the door again without having to use any further accessories or tools - either left or right-hinged - as required. Passive ventilation of the 19“ Tower is guaranteed through ventilation louvers at the top and bottom. Active ventilation, i.e. a side panel with a filter-fan panel, as well as a support bracket for wall-fixing at the side or a plate for mounting components that are not equipped with a 19" fixing, are available as accessories.
Not only large companies employing several hundred staff members need network technology. Small companies and private homes as well ask for customised solutions – Xpatch from Moeller fully meets all these requirements
The name Xpatch comprises a large product family specialized in setting up data networks up to category 6. This includes passive components such as installation and patch cords as well as data outlets and a wide variety of enclosure types. Moeller offers everything from a single source – connecting technology, data connection systems and enclosures in different sizes. The ideal solution for the requirements of large offices is the 19” cabinet system which is able to handle up to 1104 patch cords thanks to its perfect cable management system. Small and medium-size companies will be optimally equipped with a 19" wall-mounted enclosure which is available both in a two and three-compartment design. And for the SOHO segment, Moeller has recently developed two attractive enclosure versions for potential customers: The 10“ wall-mounted enclosure and the new 19“ Tower. This is an obvious sign for considerable future increase rates coming up in this segment. After all, in the age of telephone, cable TV, computer and Internet, it is and will be impossible to get by without the appropriate network technology.
